Default Heart Rate Monitor

Hello everyone,

I've read the other thread on heart rate monitors and im looking at getting one. I need a new 'second' watch as mine has just about had it and after a quick google products search I have came across this:

https://www.fitnessmonitors.com/prod...e-Monitor.html

If any of you use them are the chest straps uncomfortable? etc. and for £18-odd do you recon this one i've found will be any good?

I dont have this specific one. I have had a heart rate monitor for about 5 years now. Maybe getting a little old but it still does the same job it did when i first bought it.

The chest strap is not uncomfortable and too be honest with you, once you get used to it being there, you tend to forget about it...

cheers

I am usre it will be fine mate. I bought a HRM from Tesco for around £20 and it is absolutely fine.

Yes, more expensive models may have better features but if all you are only after the basics (HR, countdown timer etc) they are all much of a muchness.

I always ware a HRM and, to agree with other posts, you get used to the strap fairly quickly. If you don't set the strap properly before the match, they do tend to slip which means that you either die (according to the HRM which stops reading any heart beats!) or you have to do the hokey-cokey at the next stoppage in play to get it back in the right place.

I agree that you get what you pay for with HRM. I bought a cheap one initially (£20 at Decathalon) and all it did was show my heart rate any any particular stage ... it didn't record the details (i.e. max, min, average) for later analysis.

Personally, I'd go for one of the more expensive Polar HRM (they are only a few match fees!) ... but it depends on what you want from the watch.

I use mine to try and make sure my training is giving me about 60-70% of the work-out from my match (circa 1000-1200 calories a match).

I ordered a Polar FS1. Came on here, looked at the link and thought again. Checked on Polar Website and it doesn't have a stopwatch function, so I've cancelled Will be going on that website and looking at those haha

I have never bothered with them. What do i need one for?? Do you honestly care what your heart rate is during the match? Example... you look after 20 mins of the 2nd half and see your heart rate is high, the game is fast and intense and your working ur arse off. What can you do? you cant slow down, it would be suicide to ask for a breather.

I understand at a certain level the PGMOL want readings every week but we dont need them. I use 2 watches in a game and if im honest i only use the one. The 2nd is just the time.

Then again for works for one doesnt always work for someone else. But thats just my opinion guys
