Default New ref

Hello all,
My name is John and I am living and refereeing in Dublin.
I am refereeing senior men on Saturday's and schoolboys/girls on Sunday's.
I have only been doing it for 4 months but loving it and the fitness is a bonus.
People still look at me when I tell them I am a ref but all say fair play to you.

Hi John,
You've picked a good time to start getting involved (I did a couple of seasons on and off in the AFL there in Dublin - good tough league to referee on).

Especially with the FAI School of Excellence (as Ireland has signed up to the UEFA Refereeing Pathway Programme) - the opportunities to progress onto the League of Ireland are within reach for those talented and enthusiastic enough.

Plus the guys from Dublin on the League of Ireland are most approachable and a good bunch of lads (I've also had the pleasure of working with a few of them)

Thanks Dommer, I am doing AUL Saturday afternoon and NDSL on Sunday and Saturday mornings. Dont know about the FAI school though as been a 40 year old might be hard to break through. Your right though about support and help from the more experienenced refs in Dublin. There is always a freiendly ear willing to listen and give guindance . Our society is also very helpful.

I might well keep you in mind towards the end of the season in November - as I normally do a couple of games in Dalymount for Bohemians - and would need to find two Assistants.
